World Educators of Korean Education Conference

  • Korean education personnel at King Sejong Institutes are invited once a year to strengthen the professionalism of Korean education and establish a cooperative network among the teachers around the world.
  • In addition, the foundation shares the operation cases of Korean education and institutes of Korean education in all parts of the world.
  • The foundation enriches professionalism of teachers of the Korean language through the presentation & training session.

A. Business Outline
  • Purpose
    • Strengthening a cooperative network among global Korean education personnel and improving the educational capability of local Korean educational faculty
  • Period/Location: Third week of July every year (3 nights, 4 days) / Seoul or nearby
  • Participants: King Sejong Institute principals, operating personnel and Korean teachers
  • Major item: Korean culture education and faculty re-education support
    • (Common program) Special invitation lectures, presentations of exemplary classes from Outstanding Class competition, etc., Korean culture education manual information session, meet-and-greet, Korean cultural experience program operations, etc.
    • (Customized program) Operating customized faculty re-education program based on the personalities and experiences of teachers (native/non-native)

  • Application period: March every year
  • Recruitment notice: Announcement on the Foundation website and official letters sent to King Sejong Institutes
  • Notification to final participants: April
D. Screening Criteria
  • 1 person among the directors of King Sejong Institutes and operating personnel
  • Teachers
    • A person who got a letter of recommendation from the director of King Sejong Institute
    • A person who has never participated in this conference within the recent 3 years among the teachers at King Sejong Institutes
E. Application Procedure
  • Application period: every March
  • Recruiting notice: Announcement on the foundation homepage & dispatching official documents to King Sejong Institutes
  • Notification of final confirmed participants: In April
F. Submission Documents
  • Participants’ application documents
    • Directors of King Sejong Institutes & operating personnel: Application form for participation (face photo should be submitted in file), A copy of one’s passport
    • Teachers: A letter of recommendation from the director of the Korean culture center, or directors of King Sejong Institutes
  • Presentation Materials (it applies to only the confirmed person for participation)
    • o Directors of King Sejong Institutes & operating personnel: Cases of King Sejong Institute operation
    • o Teachers: Cases of Korean class
  • A letter of intent for sharing information & safety control, etc. (it applies to only the confirmed persons for participation)

  • Screening Criteria
    • Requesting institute for dispatching teachers (King Sejong Institutes)
    • King Sejong Institutes which are short of the number of teachers compared to the number of students
    • King Sejong Institutes which are short of professional teachers
    • King Sejong Institutes which are capable of playing a role as a base King Sejong Institute
    • *Reference: Priority consideration to the King Sejong Institute who can afford to support a dispatched teacher (support of visa issuance, lodging, living expenses during his/her stay, etc.)
  • Roles of the King Sejong Institute
    • Support & supervision of a dispatched teachers’ educational activities
    • Support of a dispatched teacher’s adaptation to local living

Operation of Korean language teachers’ training course

  • • King Sejong Institute supports a teacher of the Korean language in acquiring a teaching qualification (Grade-3) and upgrades the educational quality of the King Sejong Institute by carrying out a teacher’s training course for the teachers at King Sejong Institutes overseas.
Online Course (75 hrs)+Offline Courses (45 hrs)+Examination for Evaluation =Completion
A. Project overview
  • Purpose: Improving professionalism of overseas King Sejong Institute teachers and supporting them with acquisition of teachers’ licenses
  • Education approach: Online and offline integrated education
  • Target: Overseas King Sejong Institute faculty, King Sejong Institute faculty with a recommendation from the head of education agencies
  • Education period: Online (17 weeks), offline (3 to 5 days)

  • Completion of online course: completion of a course is approved if attendance and completion of the online lectures at Nuri-Sejong Hakdang LMS (http://lms.sejonghakdang.org/) are 100% 
    • ※ Supporting offline courses for those who have completed online courses only 
  • Completion of offline course: possible to take an assessment test after attending 100% of the offline lectures, completion of a course is approved if at least 60% is achieved in both written tests from Sections 1 through 4 and exercises in Section 5

D. Requirements for completion 
  • Online course: supporting teachers through Nuri-Sejong Hakdang
  • Offline course: supporting living expenses during stay and international flight costs (economy)
